African American National Biography, accessed December 30, 2014, via Oxford African American Studies Center database: (Clark, Sonny; Conrad Yeatis (or Yetis) Clark; jazz musician, pianist; born 21 July 1931 in Herminie, Pennsylvania, United States; began to play the piano at age four; in 1943 his family moved to Pittsburgh, where, he also played the vibraphone and bass in a high school band; was associated with most of the leading jazz musicians in the area; made his first recordings as a sideman with the vibraphonist Teddy Charles and then with Pepper (1953); in San Francisco met the clarinetist Buddy DeFranco and replaced Kenny Drew in DeFranco's quartet; recorded the baritone saxophonist's Serge Chaloff's album Blue Serge; in 1957 he became a member of the singer Dinah Washington's accompanying trio; best remembered as a hard-bop pianist; died 13 January 1963 in New York, New York, United States)
